1939: EARLY VINTAGE TOOLBOX MEDICAL KIT

During the early years of Emergency Medical Services calls, toolboxes were often used as medical kits aboard ambulances. In 1939, this kit was issued  to J. Edmond Smith of the Fredericksburg Rescue Squad, Inc. Medical kits of that era used “unit” first aid packages which were modular and fit easily into a configuration of kit sizes.
