In the 1960s, the Quick Air Kit, a pneumatic splint kit, was widely used on board ambulances. It consisted of a full-arm splint, a half-arm splint, a wrist splint, a full-length splint, a half-leg splint, and an ankle splint. The splints would be inflated and could be used to hold a pressure dressing in place.
