1970s: LAERDAL PORTABLE SUCTION

In the 1970s, Laerdal introduced the Laerdal Portable Suction Unit. This unit contained a rechargeable battery and reusable tubing and collection canister. The kidney shaped cover was designed to be used as an emesis basin. The unit was ideal for ambulances, crash carts, nursing stations, and doctor’s offices.
