1960: BUICK FLXIBLE AMBULANCE
This photo shows a 1960 Flxible Buick Premier ambulance that was originally built by the Flxible Company in Loudonville, Ohio and was purchased new by the Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation for their West Leechville, PA stainless steel plant. The vehicle served as the plant ambulance which responded to emergency calls until its retirement in 1987.
The ambulance was restored by Gene and Steve Lichtman of Mt. Airy, Maryland. as active members of the Professional Car Society (PCS) which is an international organization of members who have restored vintage ambulances and funeral cars to their original condition.
This vehicle was featured in the National EMS Museum exhibit at the 2008 EMS Today conference which was held at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland.
