1973: K-BAR-T EXTRICATION TOOL

In the 1970s, Bremerton, Washington citizen Mitchie King invented the K-BAR-T, a rescue tool used to extricate individuals from vehicles. The tool was advertised as an “all purpose extrication tool” that could “take the top off a car in two minutes or pry open a jammed car door in 17 seconds.”

The K-BAR-T was made from tempered steel, with a chisel point and was capable of extending to improve pry leverage.
