1980s: BERG RESUSCITATION APPARATUS

In the 1980s, Kent Berg of Greenville County, South Carolina EMS, developed the Berg Resuscitation Apparatus. The device allowed a paramedic to perform CPR on an intubated patient without having to change positions by using a remote trigger to provide oxygen while the paramedic performed chest compressions.
