1920s: RESUSCITATION: PULMOTOR RESUSCITATOR

Beginning in 1907, Dragerwerk AG Company produced the Pulmotor Resuscitator, which was considered the first practical device for delivering oxygen to patients and has influenced resuscitators for decades.

 

This image shows a Pulmotor portable resuscitator in front of a New York City Police Department Emergency Services Unit (ESU) in the 1920s.
